By now, cloud is far less mysterious – or even threatening – than it was even just a couple of years ago. Still, not all agencies are meeting deadlines associated with the federal “cloud-first” mandates that have been so highly touted in the last few years.
In this edition of 1on1 with BizTehReports we explore how existing procurement proceses, concerns about security and limited experience with cloud technology has inhibited adoption...and we discuss how these issues can be overcome. We chat with Aquilent's Chief Technology Officer, Mark Pietrasanta to get his views on the nature of these barriers and the steps that can be taken to smooth the path to cloud implementation in the federal government.
Mark Pietrasanta brings more than 20 years of experience as a proven technology industry leader and strategist. In 2010, he received the 2010 Federal Computer Week Federal 100 Award, which annually acknowledges “individuals in government and industry who have played pivotal roles in the federal information technology community,” This prestigious award was given to Mr. Pietrasanta for his work in Cloud Computing.
As Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Pietrasanta has directed Aquilent’s involvement in developing its Technology Strategy Solution, which incorporates how Aquilent can assist federal agencies with their Cloud Computing strategies. He also took the lead in Aquilent’s role with the GSA’s Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC) and USA.gov, establishing the OCSC Cloud Computing vision very early on, and then building a roadmap to achieve that vision.
